Oregon Dairy Improves Operations With NCR Self-Checkout

Oregon Dairy proudly serves its customers as a family-friendly supermarket, restaurant, gift shop and award-winning bakery. While Oregon Dairy has grown over the years, the owners have remained focused on ensuring that these expansions improve their customers’ shopping experience. With the customer always in mind, the owners felt it was time to improve the overall checkout experience, and offer an option that would provide speed and convenience for shoppers looking to simply pay and go.
 
They also needed a solution that would enable them to use their labor more efficiently, redeploying employees from checkout duties to assisting customers with hands-on service in other areas of the store, restaurant, gift shop and bakery.
 
To find the right solution for its front-end, Oregon Dairy turned to its trusted retail technology partner, AWI. Oregon Dairy has relied on AWI, an NCR partner, for over 30 years as its wholesale grocery distributor and for 15 years as its retail technology provider. In fact, they have used a variety of NCR products since 1996, including point-of-sale (POS) terminals and scanner/scales.
 
AWI worked with Oregon Dairy to determine that replacing three of its 14 traditional POS checkout stands with a self-checkout solution would best fit their needs. Oregon Dairy selected the NCR SelfServ™ Checkout based on the solution’s proven performance as well as their longstanding relationship with NCR and its reliable products. In addition, because of the NCR SelfServ Checkout solution’s seamless integration with Oregon Dairy’s POS software, viPOS by RORC, it was a natural fit.
 
Oregon Dairy installed four NCR SelfServ Checkout units with one NCR SelfServ Checkout Remote Attendant Station. From site preparation to installation, training and support, AWI completed the installation for Oregon Dairy within six days.
 
Following the deployment of NCR SelfServ Checkout, Oregon Dairy reports that customer service and satisfaction at its stores have improved, and they are able to more efficiently use their labor resources.
