PAR Unveils New Tablet Designed for Hospitality and Retail Applications

Dubbed the PAR Tablet 8, the company is banking on its 35 years of experience in the hospitality and retail industries to help it rise above the me-too tablets that have saturated the channel in recent years.  
 
The enterprise tablet market is about to get a little more crowded with the recent announcement of a new mobile device from ParTech (PAR), targeting solution providers and merchants in the retail and hospitality space. 
 
Dubbed the PAR Tablet 8, the company is banking on its 35 years of experience in the hospitality and retail industries to help it rise above the me-too tablets that have saturated the channel in recent years.

The PAR Tablet 8 supports the company’s PixelPoint, TSR, ATRIO Guest Experience Management and SureCheck applications and PAR said that it is closely working with independent Software Vendor (ISV) partners to provide an enhanced guest experience for customers with the tablet. Currently ISVs supporting the PAR Tablet 8 include: Brink POS, Gateway Ticketing, ShipRite, TCPOS, Vista and many more. The tablet has a production lifecycle model of up to 4 years. The same model can be utilized for an entire technology cycle versus updating every year. 
 
The device is targeted for numerous retail and food service implementations, including mobile POS, customer engagement, wine lists, table management, ordering and loyalty station solutions. 
 
The good news is that solution providers interested in the device don't have long to wait. The PAR Tablet 8 and accessories will be globally available the week of June 23 in 48 initial countries to PAR customers and partners with the payment accessories being generally available in the third quarter of 2014.
