This past year, I took it upon myself to take a hard look at where VSR Magazine has been and where it’s heading. The magazine has always toed the line between product information and business acumen. This year, I want to make that line less obvious.
In conversations with dozens of resellers, ISVs, and solution providers, I’ve learned that what you want is more information to better manage and run your business. To that end, we’re going to continue to cover all the latest tech and business trends, including (but definitely not limited to) the different as-a-service models, mobility, cloud computing, and PCI compliance; however, we are going to make a concerted effort to explain why these tools make sense in the different vertical markets, and give real world business models for each application.
The fact is, the Channel is changing at a rate we haven’t seen in years. The recession might have spurred a new normal in terms of spending (debatable); however, a plethora of solid innovation has created additional avenues for novel solutions that are ripe for the modern-age solution provider.
The team at VSR Magazine prides itself on being on the cusp of the latest business developments and technological advancements. Sure, some fizzle, but I would rather be talking about the tech that’s top of mind right now rather than chasing after the ones we missed, months after the fact.
Finally, VSR has reactivated its Editorial Advisory Board for 2012. I rely on the expertise of our readers to help guide the path this magazine takes, and I felt it was time that VSR acknowledged the VARs and ISVs that lend their expertise throughout the year. As always, you have ideas for an article, or want to write a column, please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for making VSR the number one business magazine in the Channel, and I look forward to covering the news, tech, and solution providers that will shape the industry in 2012.
