J. Alan Hayman
J. Alan Hayman grew up in Washington, D.C. and attended Boston University where he graduated with honors from the School of Management in 1974.
He joined the family business, Hayman Systems, after college and helped grow the company which became one of the largest point-of-sale dealerships in the US with operations in Washington, Baltimore, South Florida and Denver. Alan launched the first e-commerce site for POS supplies and peripherals which was called POS Depot.
In December, 1999, Micros Systems, Inc. the market leader in hospitality POS and PMS systems, acquired Hayman Systems and its affiliates which had grown to sales of approximately $16 million with a staff of about 135 team members.
Alan became the EVP of Restaurant Sales and Strategies for MICROS Systems, Inc. responsible for US operations. During his tenure, MICROS grew from $325 to almost $700 million in revenue. He retired from MICROS and the POS business in June, 2006.
Currently, he is the president of Hayman Consulting Group which specializes in developing sales and marketing strategies for large and small technology companies. In addition, in 2009, Alan launched his latest venture, XCO Software LLC, a software development company dedicated to creating solutions for smart phones including iPhone™ and BlackBerry™.
Currently, Alan serves on the Board of Advisors of the Boston University School of Hospitality Administration. In addition, he lectures to various groups about technology including trade associations, universities, and private industry. He resides in Potomac, Maryland, and Aspen, Colorado, with his wife and has two daughters living in NYC and Washington, DC.
